KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has assured the government’s continuous commitment to holistically ensure the country’s sustainable economic development. This, he said, tied in with the objective of turning Malaysia into a high- income, yet sustainable economy by 2020. In wishing Happy Earth Day, Najib noted that RM15 million was allocated to the Malaysian Green Foundation (Yayasan Hijau Malaysia) to promote and enhance the use of green technology in the corporate sector. The prime minister said this in a posting on his Facebook account. Najib had announced the setting up of the foundation during the tabling of the 2014 Budget. Celebrated annually on April 22, Earth Day is marked worldwide with events that demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first held in 1970.
