GEORGE TOWN, April 26 – G HOTEL Sdn Bhd expects its soon to be completed G Hotel Kelawai project to contribute positively to the group’s topline over the next year. G Hotel Director Phuah Choon Meng said the group hopes the G Hotel Kelawai, for which construction started in 2009, will be able to contribute about 40 per cent to total revenue. He said the RM200 million project has reached 90 per cent in terms of construction and is schedule for completion in the third quarter of 2014.
“For the first 12 months, we are targeting to achieve an occupancy rate of about 80 per cent it will contribute about 40 per cent to the group revenue,” he told reporters after the Topping Off ceremony for the project by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng here Friday. He said the current G Hotel Gurney which opened in 2007, has achieved an occupancy of about 85 per cent, with 60 per cent business and 40 per cent leisure clients. “By the third quarter of this year, we will have 520 rooms in both hotels that are strategically located next to two upscale shopping malls, the Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon,” he added. Phuah said the G Hotel Kelawai will comprise 208 rooms of 143 deluxe, 63 executive and two units of suites, all of which are exquisitely designed with modern and stylish furniture. – Bernama
