KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Monday called on all communities to jointly ensure the success of all blood donation campaigns carried out by various parties. Najib said it was learned only 2.5 per cent of Malaysians were permanent blood donors compared to five per cent in many other countries. “Let us together regardless of our race or religion support government or private sector efforts in the various blood donation drives,” he said.
Najib said in his Facebook message linked to a BERNAMA news report with the heading ‘Only 2.5 per cent of Malaysians are permanent blood donors’ that was published on Sunday. The report quoting Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at a function in the capital mentioned that while the blood supply of the National Blood Centre was at a satisfactory level, it needed to be replenished further.
