Yang di-Pertuan Agong Pays Last Respects To Brother Tunku Annuar



ALOR SETAR, May 21 – The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah arrived at Istana Chegar, Anak Bukit, here Wednesday to pay his last respects to Kedah Regency Council chairman Tan Sri Tunku Annuar Sultan Badlishah. Tuanku Abdul Halim who had to cut short his state visit to Singapore arrived at 11.45am accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah Hamidun. Also present were Kedah Regency Council member Tan Sri Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani Sultan Badlishah and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir. Tunku Annuar, who is also the younger brother of Tuanku Abdul Halim, died in Pantai Hospital, Ipoh, Perak at 12.20am, early Wednesday. After the cleansing ritual, the body was taken from Istana Chegar to nearby Istana Anak Bukit where it lies in-state for the last respects. Tunku Annuar will be buried in the Kedah Royal Mausoleum, Langgar after Asar prayers.
