KUANTAN, May 29 – The Pahang government will fly the state and federal flags at half-mast for three days starting today as a mark of mourning over the demise of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah. The Protocol Unit of the Pahang State Secretariat said today the order had come from the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah. Sultan Azlan Shah passed away at 1.30 pm yesterday at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur. His Royal Highness was 86. The late sultan would be laid to rest today at the Royal Mausoleum in Kuala Kangsar after the ‘Asar’ prayers in the late afternoon. Sultan Azlan Shah ascended the Perak throne on Feb 3, 1984.
