KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 – Companies and individuals should join the government in donating and making a success of the Warriors Day Fund campaign. The prime minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said the donation shows their appreciation of soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending the country. “Donate according to your ability, no matter how small or large, inline with this year’s theme ‘Demi Malaysia, Sekecil Manapun, Besar Pengertiannya’,” she said when launching Warriors Day Fund at Angkasapuri in Kuala Lumpur last night.
Rosmah, who is also the Warriors Fund patron, said the funds raised would be used to ensure the welfare of army veterans, their families and widows of veterans killed during operations. “Last year, the Warriors Fund managed to collect RM4.1 million. Up to August, we have managed to collect RM1.64 million. I believe that we will be able to achieve the RM5 million target by year end.” She said the army veterans are lucky because the government is concerned and never forget to safeguard their welfare. “Army veterans receive a lot of aid such as welfare, education, subsistence (allowance) and support for their children’s schooling.” Also present at the launch were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein and Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri. – Bernama
