KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 – The Malaysian Meteorological Department today denied the claims it had issued a Tsunami alert in several states claiming it was a communication exercise. A spokesperson from the MMD when contacted said it was a joint training with the National Security Council (MKN) and Royal Police Department dubbed as Indian Ocean Wave Communication Exercise (IOWAVE14). “The training will be conducted from today and tomorrow,” the spokesperson said. The department urged the public to ignore and stop spreading the false news which had gone viral on social media.
