GEORGE TOWN, Sept 19 – Four cars were badly damaged after a giant billboard collapsed on them during a heavy storm. The 7.30pm incident took place near Krystal Point, Bayan Baru. The heavy storm brought the billboard on top of a Citroen, BMW, Perodua Myvi and Kelisa which were parked nearby.

An eye-witness who want to be known as Mariam, 24 said she heard a loud sound, few minutes after rain began falling. “I thought it was a big stone which fall on the ground. But I was shocked to find that sound came from the billboard. “I ran to the nearest building for cover,” she said.

State Fire and Rescue Department senior commander Abdul Rahim Ismail said on reaching the site they found a six feet by 12 feet billboard which was located on the roof top of the building had collapsed, crashing to the ground.  He said no life was lost and neither was there any injuries reported. “We have asked the management of the building to vacate the place for cleaning works,” he said. He said the billboard was believed to have collapsed due to heavy winds.
