KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 – Members of PAS’ Dewan Muslimat (women’s wing) were today urged to reject Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia (PasMa) and to remain strong with PAS which has existed for a long time. Pahang Dewan Muslimat delegate, Salamiah Mohd Noor said this was because PasMa was established not to look after the welfare of PAS members, but more for political interest. “Is it not enough that we have PAS all this while? It’s enough for us to hold onto an Islamist party,” she said in her adjournment speech at the 54th PAS’ Dewan Muslimat Muktamar (Assembly) at Pulai Springs Resort, in Johor Baru, today.

Salamiah said with the various issues faced by the party today, she hoped that all PAS’ Muslimat leaders and members would not be involved in PasMa and in any programmes organised by the newly-formed non-governmental organisation. She also called on all Dewan Muslimat members to give priority to every decision made on the party by the Ulama Syura Council compared to the stands made by the other partners in Pakatan Rakyat over issues. She said Dewan Muslimat members must give their undivided support to the Ulama Syura Council and party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang “We, the Muslimat members, need guidance and coaching. However, our reference is not Pakatan Rakyat but the Ulama Syura Council. We must remember that the top most is our party’s leadership,” she added.
