KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 – Grassroots leaders at the PAS assembly have been ordered to stop all debate on the contradicting decisions between the party’s top leaders, especially concerning its president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang. The order was given by top ulama Datuk Haron Din who said debate on the issue had already raised political temperatures in the assembly. “I order that we stop debate on the issue for now, since we all have received your feedback and it will be responded to during the winding up speech,” said Haron in a special message at the start of the assembly’s afternoon session.
“We don’t have to turn up the heat on something that is already hot. We have already heard a lot on this issue,” Haron said. Almost all delegates at the assembly this year have debated the conflicting views between Hadi and his central committee on how to resolve the Selangor Menteri Besar crisis. Members of the central committee have come under fire for questioning the president’s decision on who to take over from Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim. Hadi’s decision not to support PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for the MB’s post has strained relations between PAS and its allies. His decision also contradicts an earlier central committee stand to support Dr Wan Azizah.
