KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 – The move by parents who encouraged and prepared the pupils to prepare for the re-examination of the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) today and on Oct 9 has received praise from Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh. He said the preparation made by everyone including the pupils before the actual UPSR exam began on Sept 9 enabled the pupils to always be ready to face the repeat examination.
“Pupils who have made good preparation will be able to answer the questions well because this will reflect what they have learnt and understood since standard one. “The leaked questions will not give a real picture on the performance of the pupils,” Idris told reporters after observing the UPSR Examination at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bangsar, here Tuesday. The re-examination was being held following the leak in the earlier UPSR exam sat by 472,853 candidates this year. According to Idris, many perceived the leak in the exam papers from a positive angle.
Earlier, Idris spent time with 270 pupils who had to resit for the UPSR at the SK Bangsar. In a brief speech, Idris, when giving words of inspiration to the pupils, said: “I (referring to the pupils) smile, I am pleased, Insya-Allah (God willing) they can answer the questions well. “I thank the teachers, they enter the exam room well, calm and think of obtaining a good result,” he said.
The repeat UPSR examination today involved two subjects namely Science and English Language. The examination papers that were repeated were Science 018, 028 and 038 beginning at 8.15am and English Language 014/1 beginning at 10.30am and English Language 014/2 at 12.20pm. The new date for Mathematics 015/1, 025/1, 035/1 and Tamil Language 036 and 037 is Oct 9.
