KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 1 – Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, Wednesday gave three more months up to the end of the year for the state departments and agencies to address 37 identified matters. He said they had to ensure that the 37 matters were attended to as these would figure in the Key Performance Index (KPI) for the state government under the New Terengganu Transformation.

Ahmad Razif said programmes to resolve some of the matters, such as traffic congestion on the Sultan Mahmud Bridge and cleanliness of public toilets and the city, had started according to plan. “Likewise, the repairs at the Gong Badak Stadium, which is in the process of being handed over to the contractor, and will be completed in a month,” he told reporters after chairing the weekly state executive council meeting in Kuala Terengganu. The 37 matters included housing issues, cleanliness at the Kedai Payang Main Market and the Cabang Tiga Market, and beautification of the Islamic Civilisation Park.

The New Terengganu Transformation introduced by Ahmad Razif after his appointment as the menteri besar last May also included upgrading the Islamic education system through the development of the modern ‘pondok’. He said the state government’s main focus now was to ensure that everything went according to plan. Visits will be held to Kedah and Melaka to study their approach of addressing cleanliness and beautification problems, he added.
