PUTRAJAYA, Oct 1 – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail, Wednesday gave her statement at the Registrar of Societies (ROS) here pertaining to the sacking of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as a party member. The session, which lasted for about two hours, was conducted by ROS enforcement division director, ASP Akmal Yahaya. PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also gave his statement.
Dr Wan Azizah, who was later met by the media, said the session went smoothly and the officer was satisfied with her statement. “I have responded to all the questions raised and I signed two papers from that conversation during the last session,” she said. She reiterated her confidence that the PKR Disciplinary Board which sacked Khalid, who was also former Selangor menteri besar, last Aug 9 was right and in accordance with the party constitution. PKR Disciplinary Board chairman Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong was called to give his statement last Aug 28 pertaining to the complaint lodged by Khalid on Aug 16.
Khalid was sacked for not complying with the party’s directive to resign from his post as menteri besar so as to give way to Dr Wan Azizah as his successor. Meanwhile, Saifuddin Nasution said he had given full cooperation in answering all the questions which centred on PKR’s constitution and disciplinary issues. He said no time frame for the investigation was set but was informed that ROS wanted the case to be settled as soon as possible.
