KOTA KINABALU, Oct 2 – The Sabah government acknowledged the contributions of private higher learning institutions (IPTS) to the state’s development, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman. He also noted that the IPTS’ contribution to educational development in Sabah was in line with the state government’s aim to provide more opportunities and places to school leavers and youths to pursue higher studies.
“To drive the state’s development to a higher level, we need people, particularly the younger generation, to acquire knowledge and skills. “Hence, the state government is committed to doubling efforts to increase youth’s development potential by providing a clear direction, as well as career and skills development opportunities so that they can contribute to the state and people’s progress and wellbeing,” he said.
Speaking at Kolej Yayasan Sabah’s (KYS) 19th convocation ceremony here today, Musa also said that the state’s rapid development through the implementation of various programmes would provide many more job opportunities in such fields as skills, entrepreneurship, services and tourism. On KYS, he expressed appreciation for its contribution in education and in producing skilled human capital in various fields to meet the needs of the current job market.
