KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 – Solid waste management company Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (Alam Flora) has taken the precautionary measures to clear clogged drains and ditches in the event of heavy rain and floods in the city. Its chief executive officer, Mohd Zain Hassan, said today the company had initially deployed operations teams comprising two officers and 23 workers to several locations, including construction sites. “Furthermore, high-pressure water jetters have been kept on standby to clear drains and ditches of sand, earth or refuse carried by the floods,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Zain said the flood-prone areas were the Jalan Sultan Ismail intersection, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Khidmat Usaha (in front of the Federal Court), Jalan Segambut, the slip road to the Jalan Duta roundabout from Jalan Ipoh and the Jalan Genting Klang slip road, Jalan Kuching, the Jalan Sambanthan slip road to Jalan Duta and Jalan Ipoh (in front of the Dynasty Hotel). He advised Kuala Lumpur residents to comply with proper waste disposal methods and adhere to stipulated procedures to prevent floods in the city during the rainy season.
