KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 – Reports that former Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is planning to vacate his Port Klang state seat soon are baseless. Khalid’s state seat special officer, Faekah Husin said there was no reason for him (Khalid) to quit his position as the Port Klang State Assemblyman. “It is hoped that his constituents do not heed the baseless rumours,” she said when contacted.
It was reported today that Khalid was planning to vacate his state seat soon after returning from a holiday since resigning as the Selangor Menteri Besar. The report, quoting sources said the former Menteri Besar planned to resign before the state assembly convened again in November. According to sources, rumours of Khalid’s resignation were just a political ploy being disseminated by his enemies who wanted to “bury him for good”.
“Tan Sri (Khalid) has set a very high benchmark as the Selangor Menteri Besar and it would be hard for anyone to better or even equal it. “Such claims are totally baseless and I urge his supporters not to heed them,” added the source.
