Woman Who Stabbed Rapid Penang Bus Driver Charged

GEORGE TOWN, Oct 10 – The woman who is alleged to have stabbed the leg of a Rapid Penang bus driver has been charged by the magistrate’s court with intentionally causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.  Chong Lan Keow, 49, a vegetable delivery woman, is alleged to have punctured the leg of Aisyamudin Yaacob, 27, at 6.50am in Rapid bus PJH6045 at Jalan Paya Terubong, Relau, Sungai Nibong on Monday.

Chong, who is believed to be mentally unsound, was ordered by Magistrate L. Umma Devi to undergo psychiatric evaluation for a month at Hospital Bahagia Tanjung Rambutan. The court also fixed Nov 10 for mention.  The offence under Section 324 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to three years or a fine or whipping, or both, upon conviction.
