KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 – The ringgit ended lower against the US dollar on weak buying sentiment despite stronger regional currencies, a dealer said. At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2605/2625 against the greenback compared with 3.2560/2580 on Friday. A dealer said the local unit eased on reaction to the comments by Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz that the country still needed supportive monetary policy to navigate uncertain global environment.
The ringgit ended lower against the British pound to 5.2429/2471 from 5.2285/2327 and weakened against the euro to 4.1324/1355 from 4.1254/1282. It weakened against the Singapore dollar to 2.5627/5663 from Friday’s 2.5593/5613 and was down against the yen to 3.0322/0346 from 3.0154/0181.
