KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 – An odd-job worker angered by the recent fuel subsidy cut is now in hot water over a photo of him holding a slipper against the face of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on a poster. M. Krishnan, 58, was arrested by police on Saturday at his low-cost flat in PPR Sri Alam, Sungai Besi, to facilitate investigations.

He was remanded for a day to assist police in their probe into intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and criminal intimidation. Krishnan has been released on police bail. Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy confirmed the incident, saying police were wrapping up their investigations.

“The investigation papers will be passed to the Attorney-General’s Chambers this week,” he told The Malaysian Insider. Putrajaya cut fuel subsidies on October 2 by raising the price of RON95 petrol and diesel by 20 sen a litre. A photo purportedly showing Krishnan was published on Facebook by the “Friends of BN – Barisan Nasional” page.
