KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 – CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) and RHB Capital Bhd, have announced a suspension of trading in their securities on Bursa, effective 2.30 pm Tuesday. In a filing to Bursa, MBSB said Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd had approved the company’s request for suspension in its shares pending the release of a material announcement.
RHB Capital was last traded at RM8.52, up four sen from yesterday’s closing price, while CIMB declined 13 sen to RM6.41 and MBSB was flat at RM2.60. In the latest statement on the merger on Oct 9, CIMB Group, RHB Capital and MBSB said they had applied to Bank Negara Malaysia for approval. The merged entity will be a major Asean financial powerhouse and a mega-Islamic bank.
