KUANTAN, Nov 1 – The Pahang government has declared Monday (Nov 3) a public holiday in appreciation of the state team defending their Malaysia Cup title tonight. Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob who made the announcment, however, said officers and teachers involved in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination must disharge their duties as normal.
The same went to students who would be taking the examination in the state, he said. “This announcement takes into consideration that football is a people’s sport and becoming champion of the Malaysia Cup is not something we can celebrate every year,” he said via the Short-messaging System (SM) here tonight.
Pahang defended their Malaysia Cup title after they defeated Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) 5-3 in a penalty shootout in the final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur tonight. Both teams were tied 2-2 after 30 minutes of extra time.
