Johor Ready To Face Floods

KOTA TINGGI, Nov 4 – Johor is ready to face the floods which are expected to occur at the end of this year. State Public Works, Rural and Regional Development Committee chairman Datuk Ir Hasni Mohammad said district offices had already held their meetings on the preparations.

“The chairmen of the disaster committees have already updated their machinery to face the floods. This includes ensuring evacuation centres are in good condition,” he told reporters when commenting on the state government’s preparations for the floods. Earlier, Hasni had presented land titles to 287 participants and heirs of Rancangan Felcra Berhad settlers in Sungai Ara here, today.

At the same time, he said, the state government would seek the advice of the Meteorological Department on the level of danger the flood would pose. He said the cooperation of the relevant bodies such as the district offices, the Drainage and Irrigation Department, and the Fire and Rescue Department was good and each was clear about the standard operating procedure during floods.
