Najib Saddened By Bakri Omar’s Death
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today expressed sadness over the passing of former inspector-general of police, Tan Sri Mohd Bakri Omar, who died this morning. “I received news of the passing of the former inspector-general of police, Tan Sri Bakri Omar with sadness. “May Allah bless his soul. Al-Fatihah,” said the Prime Minister on his twitter website.
Mohd Bakri, 66, died at the National Cancer Institute, Putrajaya at about 8.45 a.m. due to cancer. Mohd Bakri was born on Sept 10, 1948 in Manjung, Perak and began his police career as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent on Jan 1, 1971. He was appointed inspector-general of police on Nov 5, 2003 until September 2006, succeeding Tan Sri Norian Mai.
