Police Nab Two Men In Botched ATM Robbery Cases

ALOR STAR, Nov 13 – Police had arrested two men in connection with two botched attempts to rob automated teller machines (ATM) at two separate banks in Simpang Empat and Pokok Sena here recently. State acting police chief Datuk Zakaria Yusoff said the suspects aged 25 and 26 were detained at their respective home yesterday.

Zakaria said in the first incident about 2am last Thursday, the suspects had tried to break an ATM of a bank in Pokok Sena while the second attempt had taken place at another bank in Simpang Empat on early Tuesday. “The suspects had fled empty handed when the ATMs alarm had set off during both attempts,” he told pressmen at state police contingent headquarters here today. Zakaria said police had also seized a Perodua Kancil and a Yamaha LC motorcycle from the suspects and were tracking down their accomplices.
