GST Registrations Rise To 141,494 As Of Nov 13, Surpassing 140k Target

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 – The number of companies registered for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) stood at 141,494 as of Nov 13, 2014, up by 2,316 from the previous day, said the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

In a statement Friday, the departement said the data showed a continuing increase in the number of companies registering for the GST, with the Dec 31, 2014 deadline. The number of companies registered for GST has now surpassed the government’s target of 140,000 companies to register under the new tax structure which will be implemented on April 1, 2015.
