KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 – The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET) today released a heavy rain warning at the orange stage for Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang. An orange stage warning is for weather conditions which have the capacity to impact significantly on people in the affected areas and an indication to prepare themselves for the anticipated conditions.
Areas expected to be affected in Kelantan are Tumpat, Kota Baru, Bachok, Pasir Mas, Pasir Puteh, Tanah Merah, Machang, Jeli and Kuala Krai. Meanwhile in Terengganu areas affected are Dungun, Besut, Setiu, Kuala Terengganu, Hulu Terengganu, Marang and Kemaman. In Pahang, heavy rain is expected to occur in Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin districts.
MET through its website said the condition were expected to persist until Nov 15 with moderate rain occasionally heavy at the areas mentioned. Earlier this month, MET said monsoon season to start in mid-November. Meanwhile, heavy rain in the area of Kelantan and Pahang had caused flood and affected 10 low-lying villages in Rantau Panjang and four areas in Bentong in last October.
