KOTA BAHARU, Nov 20 – The total number of flood victims at three evacuation centres in Pasir Puteh and here rose to 130 people Thursday night compared to 49 in the evening. According to the state government official portal, 77 people were housed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Mulong and 28 were evacuated to Sekolah Kebangsaan Tiong in this district while in Pasir Puteh, 25 people were relocated to Sekolah Kebangsaan Wakaf Raja.
The water level at Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas as at 8 pm had risen above the danger level. The water level, at 9.11 metres, had surpassed the danger level at 9 metres. Levels of other rivers were however still below the warning point while no main roads were closed due to floods and there were no loss of life reported to date.
Kelantan police chief, Datuk Mazlan Lazim, during his visit to the flood relief centre in Sekolah Kebangsaan Tiong in Kota Baharu, advised flood victims not to keep their valuables in the house to avoid burglaries. Also present were Kota Baharu police chief ACP Rohaimi Md Isa and State Traffic and Public Order chief Supt Azli Mohd Noor.
