SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 – Shell will continue to encourage and promote development of innovative ideas on energy efficiency and sustainable mobility in Malaysia. Its Head of Downstream Retail Marketing for Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Brunei Darussalam, Christine Liew said bright ideas that lead to new technologies innovation or products could transform the energy industry.
“The nation today is facing challenges related to population growth and consequently, a growing demand on energy in all its form. “By 2050, the number of cars on the road is expected to triple and variety of fuels and technologies will be needed to meet the growing energy demand for mobility while limiting carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
“By inspiring the Malaysian youth today with the possibility of an innovative energy future, Shell hopes to continue to contributing to nation-building,” she said in her speech during the Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2014 Best Malaysian Team Award Presentation at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) here today. Also present was Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UiTM, Prof Dr Mohd Nasir Taib. At the event, Team Monash 2 from Monash University was crowned the best Malaysian team for the 2014 Shell Eco-marathon Asia, held for the first time in Manila, Philippines earlier this year.
