Sedition Act Permanent, Reinforced – Najib
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 – Datuk Seri Najib Razak earlier announced that the Sedition Act 1948 will be maintained and strengthened to protect the wellbeing of the country. The Prime Minister said, the act would be improved by incorporating two important provisions that protect the sanctity of Islam and other religions and action against anyone who tries to instigate Sabah and Sarawak out of Malaysia.
“Sedition Act 1948 will be maintained and strengthened … …,” he said in his keynote speech at the opening of the General Assembly in 2014 in the Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), a short while ago. UMNO President’s announcement was greeted with applause representation. Conference on Women, Youth and Puteri UMNO today decided to urge the government to maintain the legislation.
