Muhyiddin To Visit China On Nov 30-Dec 5



KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 – Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be making an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from Nov 30 to Dec 5. He will be accompanied by the Transport Minister, International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister, three members of parliament and senior government officials.

His itinerary will cover three cities, namely Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing. Muhyiddin will hold a bilateral meeting with his counterparts, the Vice Premier as well as the Minister of Education. The deputy prime minister is scheduled to visit the Beijing Foreign Students University (BFSU) where he will launch the ‘Program Pengembangan Bahasa Melayu di Republik Rakyat China’.

He will be conferred the Honorary Doctorate in Literature by the BFSU president. The deputy prime minister is also scheduled to visit the Huawei Research and Development Center in Beijing to launch the ‘Telcom Seeds for the Future Programme’ and will host a roundtable meeting with the Captains of Industry. In Shanghai, he will visit the Shanghai Normal University.

The 6th World Chinese Economic Forum will be held in Chongqing from Dec 4 to 5, and Muhyiddin will deliver a keynote address at the opening session of the forum. The deputy prime minister’s visit to China is an important element in conjunction with Malaysia and China’s 40th Bilateral Relations anniversary.

It will augment efforts to enhance and strengthen existing bilateral relations and expand areas of cooperation between both countries. The visit will also provide an opportunity to develop better understanding and build on the existing shared commitment for a deeper strategic cooperation between Malaysia and China.
