PETALING JAYA, Nov 29 – RON95 prices to drop in December? According to a circular on social media, RON95 might be priced at RM2.26 per litre next month, The Star Online reports. The portal reported that the circular, dated Nov 28, was addressed to the BuraqOil Consortium and seemed to have been sent from the Finance Ministry’s tax analysis division.
The circular also hinted that the price of RON97 would be lowered by nine sen to RM2.46 per litre, while diesel would be priced at RM2.23 per litre, an increase of three sen. The Star Online’s attempts to contact Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah and his deputy Datuk Ahmad Maslan went unanswered. “However, a source close to the matter confirmed the authenticity of the circular.”
The portal went on to report that one of Ahmad Maslan’s officers refused to confirm or deny the prices in the circular, when contacted, stressing that such an announcement had to come from Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. Ahmad Maslan, however, later tweeted: “RON95 and RN97 may be lowered from the current prices from Dec 1, in accordance with the trend of world oil prices. Wait for the upcoming announcement.”
