“The water level had risen at the same level with the road divider, trapping five cars there. “Four firemen were deployed to the scene by 11.07pm,” he said, adding that no casualties were recorded. Azizan said firemen were still monitoring the area for safety. It is learnt that other areas affected in the city centre includes Jalan Larut off Jalan Tun Razak.
In Gombak, several areas in the district including Kampung Padang Balang, Kampung Chu Badak and Kampung Puah were affected with flash floods at about 10.30pm today. Earlier, 20 houses Kampung Padang Balang were affected with flash floods. A resident in the area said the flood was caused by waste trap system which had clogged, causing the excess water to flow out of the river.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Mohd Sani Harul said the poor drainage system in the area contributed to the flood. “A team of firemen from Gombak fire station were deployed to the scene but by the time they arrived, the flood has subside and the residents were cleaning their houses,” he said.
