KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 2 – The syariah index has been developed to measure the government’s seriousness in enforcing the principles, values and systems of Islam throughout all sectors in Malaysia. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, in saying this, noted that the initiative was hoped to make the government’s administration closer to the practices and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
This, he said, would result in a country and society that were balanced and excellent in all aspects of progress, knowledge and skills while at the same time, were equipped with high moral personality. “The al-Quran has clearly taught us to always exalt Islamic practices. Hence, the fight to strengthen one’s faith and the philosophies carried by Prophet Muhammad SAW must be the main agenda in our daily life.
“In line with the purpose, Rasulullah SAW was sent as a messenger of blessings and harmony for all God’s creature. “It is hoped that the effort to apply Islamic principles in the administration would successfully develop Malaysia to be blessed and more harmonious nation.” Najib stated the above on his official website NajibRazak.com, in an address to welcome tomorrow’s Maulidur Rasul, which is the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
He took the opportunity to call on the people to instil the spirit of unity while portraying their similarities as well as celebrating their differences. “I’m inviting all of us to decorate ourselves with patience and acceptance in facing this extraordinary flood. “Hopefully the government’s effort will in a way help relief some of the burden brought by this calamity.”
