Floods: Govt Will Continue Assisting Victims, Says Muhyiddin

TEMERLOH, Jan 8 – The government will continue to find short and long-term measures to assist those affected by the recent floods, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. He said the assistance would allow flood victims to rebuild and resume their normal lives.

Muhyiddin said some 300,000 people were hit by the recent floods in Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu, Johor and Perak. “I have visited several of the states involved and the damage have been unusual… the government will not take the matter lightly and will lend the necessary assistance.

“We have taken various measures so that the flood victims can continue to resume with their normal life. It may also take some time to recover but we will do our best to shoulder their burden,” he said in his speech before a gotong-royong programme at flood-hit Taman Seri Lebak here today.
