LABUAN, Jan 8 – The education ministry hopes for full attendance of teachers and students in flood-hit states when school re-opens on Monday. Its deputy minister, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching said however, low turnout in certain badly-affected areas was unavoidable.
“We do understand our expectation of school teachers and students attendance when school re-opens could be lower but it depends on the areas. “Nevertheless, the announcement has been made that certain states open on Jan 11, and other states on Jan 12.
“We share the grief over what happened in these flood-hit states…we are collaborating with various parties and ministries to expedite repair works on affected schools. “I will be accompanying ministry officials to the affected schools on Monday, and to assist in the ‘gotong-royong’, as well,” she told reporters after a dialogue here Thursday.
