KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 – More flood evacuees have vacated relief centres in Pahang and Kelantan but in Perak there was no change in the situation Wednesday. The total number of flood victims in the three states at 10pm stood at 23,772 people compared to 26,294 at 6pm, Wednesday.
In PAHANG, there was a sizeable drop in the number of flood evacuees, from 18,258 people at 6pm to 15,824 tonight. They are being sheltered at 74 relief centres. According to a Pahang police headquarters flood operations room spokesman, the number of evacuees dropped in five districts except for Kuantan which still has 1,122 people at four relief centres. Pekan has 9,951 evacuees, Maran (2,618), Temerloh (1,405), Jerantut (194) and Bera (534).
In KELANTAN, a National Security Council (MKN) spokesman said the number of evacuees dropped further to 3,203 people as compared to 3,291 earlier. Kuala Krai has 1,747 evacuees, Gua Musang (1,157), Tanah Merah (199) and Machang (100).
In PERAK, a National Security Council (MKN) spokesman said the number of evacuees remained at 4,745 people. They are at 25 relief centres with Perak Tengah recording 3,657 evacuees now, Hulu Perak (577), Hilir Perak (305), Manjung (149) and Kuala Kangsar (57).
