Moderate Earthquake In Sumatra



KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 – A moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale occurred in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia at 6.59am today, according to the Malaysian Meteorogical Department.  It said in a statement here today that the epicentre was located at 2.6 degrees north and 96 degrees east, 25km southeast of Simeulue, Indonesia and 541km southwest of Lumut, Perak. However, no tsunami threat was reported, it said.
