KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 – The black boxes of the Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ8501 may have been found said AirAsia group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes. Tony tweeted: “We are led to believe Blackbox may have been found. Still not confirmed. But strong info coming. But my man thoughts is fuselage.”
Investigators for the crashed AirAsia believed they are getting closer to locating the black box of the doomed flight as the ping from the black box was getting nearer and stronger. Investigators searching for black boxes in the crashed AirAsia plane lifted the tail portion out of the Java Sea on Saturday.
The tail was hoisted from a depth of about 30 metres (100 feet) using inflatable bags that were attached to the rear of the aircraft and a crane to lift it onto a rescue ship. The Airbus A320-200 lost contact with air traffic control during its way from Surabaya to Singapore on Dec 28 with 162 people on board. There were no survivors.
