KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 – Two more remains of the ill-fated AirAsia Indonesia Flight QZ8501 victims were identified as Jie Stephanie Gunawan and Christanto Leoma Hutama. With the identification of the female and male victims by the Disaster Victim Identification Police Department of the Republic of Indonesia (DVI POLRI), 10 more of the 50 victims recovered, need to be identified.
AirAsia stated in its update statement here tonight that the Indonesia National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has detected the fuselage of AirAsia Flight QZ8501 in the second focused primary area, between the western part of Kalimantan and Bangka Island.
Basarnas said the findings were made by visual captured by a Search And Rescue (SAR) vessel’s Remotely Operated Vehicle showing the main wreckage of the QZ8501 aircraft, as well as, the right wing on the seafloor of the Java Sea. “Divers from the SAR team will be deployed tomorrow morning for recovery operations,” said the statement.
AirAsia Indonesia Flight QZ8501 crashed on Dec 28 while flying 155 passengers and seven crew from Surabaya, Indonesia, to Singapore. Those on board the missing flight comprise 155 Indonesians, three South Koreans, a Singaporean, a Malaysian, a Briton and a French.
