Seven Killed In Tapah Fiery Crash

TAPAH, Jan 15 – At least seven people died in an accident involving a bus at Km326.3 of the North South Expressway near the exit of Tapah here. In the 1.15am incident, the bus, which was carrying 30 passengers, was on its way from Kuala Kurau to Genting Highlands.

District police chief Superintendent Somsak Din Keliaw said initial investigations showed the bus had crashed onto a lorry that had stopped in the middle of the expressway before ending up in the drain and caught fire. “The bus also crashed onto a car that had stopped to retrieve tyres from the lorry,” he said.

Rescue operations were still ongoing amd so far seven victims had been found. Somsak said besides the seven who died, 15 had been admitted into hospital for treatment while seven others escaped with minor injuries.
