KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 – The flood situation in Sabah has improved while the number of evacuees in Perak, Kelantan and Pahang still placed at the relief centres have decreased this morning from last night. In SABAH, Pitas district officer Buduban Oti Majalau said all 38 flood victims from 10 families at the Dewan Kusilad relief centre in Pitas were allowed to return to their homes.
In PERAK, the number of flood victims recorded a drop to 1,219 from 335 families compared to 1,366 individuals from 380 families last night. Perak National Security Council (MKN) spokesman said the number of flood victims in Perak Tengah were 1,012, Hilir Perak (173) and Hulu Perak (34).
In KELANTAN, the number of evacuees have decreased to 545 in 13 relief centres from 908 last night. Kelantan Social Welfare Department spokesman said there were 515 evacuees from 111 families in 12 relief centres in Kuala Krai while in Machang, the number remained at 30 from eight families in one relief centre. In PAHANG, a spokesman from the state police headquarters flood operations room said the number had dropped slightly to 337 flood victims from 369 last night.
