KEPALA BATAS, Jan 25 – The Road Transport Department (RTD) expects the fees for car and motorcycle licences to go down following the new regulation that a licence applicant need only sit for a single traffic law test. Its director-general, Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad, said the RTD would make some changes in the computer system before implementing the system for a single traffic law test.

“The department will implement the system as soon as possible for the convenience of all parties and I think the fee for driving licences will go down after this,” he told reporters after a “One Community, One RTD” programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sri Muda, Penaga, here today.

The RTD’s transformation programme, which aims to provide seamless services to the people in rural areas, was inaugurated by Public Service director-general Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal. Yesterday, the Ministry of Transport decided on a single traffic law examination for car and motorcycle licence applicants. Currently, those who wish to get a car or a motorcycle licence have to study the car and motorcycle modules separately and sit for two separate tests.
