PUTRAJAYA, Jan 29 – Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is expected to meet with the MIC President Datuk Seri G. Palanivel and Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam next week to discuss problems faced by the party. Zahid said the leaders were also expected to announce the outcome of the meeting, which was aimed at finding an amicable solution to the party’s woes.
MIC is facing de-registration from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) if they failed to hold party re-elections. “I will provide the best possible assistance to the RoS in ensuring that the any action taken would be based on the Societies Act 1966 and in accordance to MIC’s constitution,”
Zahid told this to reporters after holding a surprise visit to the National Registration Department (NRD) headquarters, here, this morning. Zahid also urged MIC members to remain calm over the ordeal as the RoS was carrying out its duties accordingly in referring to the rules and regulations stated in the party’s constitution.
