JOHOR BARU, Feb 14 – At least 185 Johor Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) personnel will be moving around in the state to ensure that traders do not hike up the price of goods during the festive season. Johor Consumerism, Domestic Trade and Tourism exco Datuk Tee Siew Kiong said that the monitoring activities were to give the public a peace of mind when they shop at markets and hypermarkets in preparation for the Chinese New Year.
He said that there were 12 controlled items listed this year which included white pomfret, dressed chickens, cabbages, garlic and eggs. “The prices of the controlled items will be monitored from today (Feb 14) until Feb 25,” he said after visiting the Taman Ungku Tun Aminah market here Saturday. He also assured the people that there were sufficient supplies of all items to cater to the festive season.
