GEORGETOWN, Feb 24 – Inaugural Penang Fashion Week will be held at Gurney Paragon Mall for a week starting from April 18th to 26th, 2015 which is the event will serves as a vital element in the ongoing effort to consolidate not only Penang as a prominent fashion hub in Malaysia, but also to introduce Penang fashion to the rest of the world.
“Penang Fashion Week is set to be the first and most exciting event in Penang in year 2015 with the theme “Pearl of Orient”. It will be an excellent platform for Penang’s outstanding homegrown designers and local college students to showcase their collections and most importantly, this fashion show provides an opportunity for designers, retailers and shoppers get together for inspirations and business,” said YB Danny Law during press conference this morning.
Each day of Fashion Week on 18th, 19th, 24th, 25th and 26th of April, the public have the opportunity to see established and emerging designers with collections ranging from street wear, office and casual wear to high fashion. All the models will be dressed in clothes provided by the local designers, demonstrating the style and versatility of Penang’s designers and retailers which will also be evident throughout the course of the show’s run. These designers will have the opportunity to have their products showcased to a huge audience across the region and no doubt, this exposure will help grow the reputation of Penang as a fashion capital.
“Today, we have more and more young and talented local designers emerging, bringing with them new and exciting concepts into the fashion market. Not only they are becoming important players in the local fashion scene, they are making their mark internationally. And I am delighted to say we have young and talented local fashion designers such as Aden Yong, Keith Kee, Ranndy Goh, Samantha Chua and Xue Kai to showcase their remarkable collections including Tanya Steven, who took part in the London Fashion Week, ” YB Danny Law added.
The gala night of the fashion week was falls on 19th April 2015, where the guests will see the hottest trends from international and local brands as Canali, Tumi, La Martina, Debenhams, Logo and Padini. Hunza Executive Director, Ms Lily Tan is confident that The Penang Fashion Week is able to deliver a multitude of ideas, creativity and the actual materialization of Penang’s best talents. It serves as a platform, which also inspire the movers and shakers of Malaysia’s fashion scene. “Hopefully Penang Fashion Week will offer added value to the visitors and tenants of Gurney Paragon Mall as well as the Penangites in general,” said Ms Lily Tan.
Penang Fashion Week’s associate partners especially Sephora, Oppo, Shiseido, AirAsia, G Hotel, Backstage, Hair Story, Equator Academy, Sun Seekers, Velvet Signature as well as the media played an imperative role for the Penang Fashion Week’s success. A more detailed program of the week-long fashion event will be announced later in March.
