LABUAN, Feb 28 – Development plans are on track to drive this duty-free island towards progress. The plans, focusing on the people’s well-being and development are running smoothly with constant government efforts and support. Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said in this regard, the ministry and its agency, Labuan Corporation are building 1,560 units of affordable homes in Kg Ganggarak.
“Another 500 units are being built in Batu Arang under the People’s Housing Project, while the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Programme is on the cards.” He said this while launching Federal Territory Day 2015, on behalf of the Prime Minister here Saturday night. Tengku Adnan said the road communication system would continuously be improved with upgrading and widening works on main roads, from two lanes to three, to ease traffic congestion especially routes leading to the town area.
“By-pass or alternative roads are also on the cards for an effective road communication system. “In three decades as a federal territory, we hope the multiracial people on the island will continue to uphold unity and render full support to the government,” he added.
