GENTING HIGHLANDS, March 1 – The Genting Group, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, donated RM1 million to 50 selected charitable organisations.
The annual festive season contribution is part of Genting’s corporate culture of caring for the community, which includes orphanages, old folks homes, and disabled and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin presented a RM20,000 cheque each to representatives from the 50 organisations at the Genting International Convention Centre here today.
Present were Genting Group chairman and chief executive Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay and Muhyiddin’s wife, Datin Seri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, Lim’s wife, Puan Sri Cecilia Lim, Genting Berhad executive director Tun Mohamad Hanif Omar and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong.
Some 1,000 guests were treated to a sumptuous lunch with a wide spread of variety signature dishes from the main restaurants at the Resorts World Genting, apart from performances by lion dance and cultural groups.
