KELANTAN, March 18 – The amendments to the Kelantan’s Shariah Criminal Code Enactment II 1993 tabled today has dropped sex between lesbians, necrophilia and bestiality as crimes. But anal sex between married couples has been considered an offence whereas before the section in the enactment only covered offences between men or man and woman who were not married. The punishment for adultery is maintained for married men and women. Those found guilty will be stoned to death while unmarried couples can be flogged 100 times and serve a one-year jail term.
“Punishment for sodomy is subject to Sub-Section (2), where any person who was found to have committed the offense will be punished with the same penalty those who committed adultery. “A man who is involved in a sexual intercourse with another man or men who perform anal intercourse on a woman is also considered as sodomy. “The offences must be proven the same manner as required to prove adultery,” Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob read out the amendments in the state legislative assembly in Kota Baru today.
