KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 – A DAP leader laughed off allegations claiming that the party is “racist” and allows no room for other races besides the ethnic Chinese to hold its top posts while an executive council member of the Youth wing listed out a few examples why DAP was all-inclusive. The party’s national publicity secretary Tony Pua said allegations by Awang Selamat, the collective editorial column of Utusan Malaysia, were nothing new and did not come as a surprise to the predominantly Chinese party.
“Utusan is a proven liar and it is known to retract, apologise or pay damages for multiple suits brought up by PKR, DAP, and PAS. “What they wrote is not worth the paper it is printed on,” chuckled Pua. Meanwhile, DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) national executive council member Muhammad Shakir Ameer Mohideen listed down several non-Chinese members which included its former chairman, the late Karpal Singh.
“Karpal Singh was a Punjabi which is the minority of the minorities and yet, he was the party’s chairman. DAP even has a member with royal blood, a pure Malay, Tengku Zulpuri Shah who is an assemblyman in Mentakab. “DAP allows anyone especially the youth to give ideas on programmes and activities that can benefit the community. Until now, Lim Kit Siang openly listens to various ideas presented by the youngsters in the party. DAP values all.
“If it is indeed a chauvinistic party, as was alleged by Utusan, then Muslims like myself would have left DAP a long time ago.” Earlier this morning, Awang wrote that no matter how much DAP’s non-Chinese members sacrifice and contribute, they will never hold a top post in the party. It also questioned the value of the Malays to the opposition party, referring to PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement yesterday in which the Marang MP said that DAP is a party that pays no regards to the interests of the Malays who form 60% of the country’s population.
“Awang has noticed this fact for a long time and has never grown tired of reminding everyone how racist DAP is. “There are so much evidence of how DAP has been fighting for the interests of the Chinese while the Bumiputeras, Malays, and Indians have no value except purely as a tool to push the party forward. “Believe this, there is no way an Indian will ever be chosen to hold the post of DAP’s secretary-general no matter how great their sacrifices are to the party.”
Awang added that Malay leaders who were always questioned by DAP members would soon be weakened and pushed aside the moment the party’s “real” mission is accomplished. He also pointed out DAP’s former vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim who until now has continuously exposed the party’s “true colours and secrets”. “Tens of Muslim leaders and thousands of Malay activists have become a victim of DAP’s manipulation. At the end, they left the party with deep regret while praying for the other Muslims to be more careful of DAP’s tricks. “What is the value of the Malays to DAP? Awang remembers a statement from another of its former vice-chairman Zulkifli Mohd Noor who said that the Malays’ value to DAP is only 50 sen.”
