GEORGETOWN, April 22 – The Opening Ceremony Of SEMICON SEA 2015 And The Launch Of Motivating Industry-Academia Collabration For Electrical & Electronics Sector with YB Dato Sri Mistapa Mohamed (Minister of International Trade and Industry) and YB Lim Guan Eng (Chief Minister of Penang) which happening this morning at SPICE Arena, Penang.

The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) pavilion at the inaugural SEMICON Southeast Asia 2015 hosts Talent Corporation, MIMOS Berhad and five Malaysian companies, namely Inari Amertron, Acculex Corporation, Aemulus Corporation, Pentamaster Corporation and TTVision Technologies to showcase dynamic development of Malaysia’s semiconductor ecosystem.

These companies are total solution providers for the semiconductor industry and manufacturers of specialised process machinery& equipment. The Chief Executive Officer of MIDA, Dato’ Azman Mahmud who was present at the SEMICON Southeast Asia to be a valuable platform for the promotion of the E&E industry with emphasis to create more business opportunities and foster regional engagements.

MIDA would like to encourage its potential investors to look at Malaysia from wider regional perspective and consider Malaysia as a strategic business partner within the framework of ASEAN. During the event, the visitors will be able to gain first-hand information and insights on the challenges and opportunities in the semiconductor industry in Malaysia.

In conjunction with this exposition, MIDA was involved in the launching of the Industry-Academia Collaboration (IAC) programme, an initiative between MIDA and the Ministry of Education with Talent Corp, with the aim to bring universities, Government entities and industries to collaborate and develop a curriculum for internship programmes and industrial training. MIDA also oganised a Supplier Search Programme to link local companies with global OEMs to encourage more business opportunities.
